Our Correspondent Diphu, August 14(EMN): The United Christian Forum (UCF) of Karbi Anglong observed ‘National day of Prayer’ on Sunday. In a press statement issued Secretary Tom Mangattuthazhe stated that the National Call on Prayer on 13th August, the Churches in Karbi Anglong joined the churches across the country in prayer. In the morning hours prayers for India was held in homes, individual churches and in the afternoon there was an ecumenical gathering of prayer organised at Believers Church Cathedral. The reason for holding the ‘Day of prayer for the Nation’ was to pray and work for the peace, prosperity and stability of the nation. Among the several passages exhorting prayer was from I Timothy 2:1-2 “I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.”
