Dimapur, July 15 (EMN): In an attempt to find an amicable solution to the current border tension between Nagaland and Assam, two civil organisations — Tzürangkong Senso Mungdang and Tzürangkong Naga Youth Front – had a joint meeting with senior state officers at Tzürangkong on Thursday.

An update from the Tzürangkong Naga Youth Front informed that the organisations highlighted their grievances related to border issues at the meeting attended by DGP of Nagaland TJ Longkumer, Commissioner of Nagaland Rovilatuo Mor, IGP (NPTO) Imlisunep, DIG (Border) Vidalalie Zashumo, DIG (IR) North Sendongmeren, SP Mokokchung Vishal Chauhan, ADC Mangkolemba and Border Magistrate Merangmen.

“The DGP Nagaland, assured the public organisations of the department’s plan to realign sufficient security force in the area at the earliest possible time to maintain status quo and to avoid further encroachment from both the sides and the Commissioner of Nagaland also reassured the house that a CM level meeting of Nagaland and Assam is scheduled to be held very soon, therefore, the officers called for calmness among the public to avoid confrontation between the two states,” read the press release.

While assuring assistance to the administration to maintain tranquillity among the people of the two states, the organisations have asked the state government to settle the border issue at the earliest and beef up security to stop “future incursions into Naga ancestral land”.
