- DIMAPUR — In an unfortunate fire incident, a tyre shop
and a resoling factory were reduced to ashes at Khermahal, Dimapur, on Saturday
morning.
- The officer in charge of the Central Fire Station, ASI
Niamlungpou Gonmei, told Eastern Mirror that after receiving a distress call at
2.06 am, the station dispatched four fire tenders along with personnel.
- The central fire tenders were joined by two additional
tenders from the West Fire Station. To fully extinguish the blaze, fire
personnel made eight trips from the Central Fire Station and four trips from
the West Fire Station, Gonmei said.

- The fire was finally brought under control at around 4.15
am, he said and added that timely intervention of the fire tenders prevented
the fire from spreading to surrounding areas.
- The fire destroyed a generator, a resoling machine, a
compressor, several tyres, and other equipment, with estimated property losses
of around INR 20 lakh, he said.
- However, there was no report of any casualty or injury in
the fire, the cause of which is yet to be determined, the officer informed.
