Two toppers from government schools reverse pattern

Kohima, May 30 (EMN): Abuina and Neimhelo-ü Lasuh, students of government-run schools in Kohima, are among the top 30 rank holders in this year’s HSSLC exam.
Abuina of Government Higher Secondary School Jotsoma (GHSSJ) was ranked 10th in Arts stream while Lasuh of Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School (RGHSS) in Kohima was also placed in the 10th position in Commerce stream.
“I am surprised to see my name as I thought there are many people who are better than me,” shared Abuina, whose father sells timber.
She aspires to be a lecturer, and attributed her success to her maternal aunt with whom she stayed in Kohima.
Abuina is the third child among the five siblings. She had gone to her native village, Punglwa in Peren district, oin April before the nationwide lockdown.
She secured a total of 437 marks at 87.40% in her HSSLC examination.
Neimhelo-ü Lasuh, who hails from Thetsümi village in Phek district, credited her success to her mother Lhousetsü-ü Lasuh.
The topper shared that she kept in touch with her books for four hours daily throughout the year.
“I am so happy that I made my mother proud because she was the one person who supported me in all cases. I know I need to thank everyone but I would like to particularly acknowledge my mother,” Lasuh said.
“I am planning to go for B.Com at Baptist College Kohima and I don’t know what life will take me to after that,” she said.
Lasuh secured 459 marks at 91.80% in her HSSLC examination.
