Two sisters killed, mother injured in bomb explosion in Manipur

Our Correspondent IMPHAL, Feb. 1 (EMN): Two sisters of a family were killed while mother sustained injury in a bomb explosion at Noney district of  Manipur’s on Friday. Police said the incident took place when an ‘unknown bomb’ believed to have left long ago was exploded while the victims were working at near Leishok (also known as Soubulong), a remote hill village located about 12 km north east Khoupum police station around 10 am. On hearing the news, a police team rushed to the spot to evacuate the victims Elder sister identified as Akhiuna Kamei (18) died at the spot while the younger sister Gaikhuanliu Kamei (15) succumbed to injury on the way to hospital. Their mother Duanthaomei also sustained injury, police official said. The bodies were taken to Imphal for post-mortem. Police team recovered some splinter from the incident site. But they are yet to confirm the details of the recovered items as they are waiting for the arrival of bomb experts. A police official of Khoupum Police Station said that suo motu was registered incident for investigation.
