Two schools in Dimapur selected for SPC

SPC is an initiative of Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, to be monitored by the state police. It is basically a programme for youth development to instil confidence amongst the students. A DIPR report stated that the Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Keveka Kevin Zehol, handed over cash assistance to the principals of the two selected schools on May 4 to undertake the programme. He also advised them to make a close observation of the SPC trained students to see the improvement and difference amongst the selected students. Additional DCP (Crime), Relo, while explaining the concept of SPC, stated that students of Classes VIII and IX would be selected and trained together by the police with assistance from the selected schools to boost their confidence and make them responsible and law abiding citizens. Under the programme, 84 selected students including 44 from Police Central School, Chumoukedima, and 40 from Chumoukedima Higher Secondary School would be trained for two years and be given certificates after completion of training, he informed. Relo also informed that SPC programme was introduced in January 2019 with the nodal officer in the rank of Inspector General. He also informed that the programme would function under the supervision of state level and district level committee members. MHA would closely monitor the programme for which a team from Delhi would be arriving in Nagaland on Tuesday to visit the selected schools. Altogether, 15 schools from Nagaland have been selected for the SPC programme, the DCP informed.
