Dimapur, July 18 (EMN): Two non-healthcare frontline workers in Peren district were tested positive for Covid-19 on TrueNat on July 17.

The test was conducted for frontline workers through TrueNat machine, out of which two non-healthcare frontline workers were tested positive for Covid-19.

This was disclosed by DTO Dr. Supongmenla Walling during an emergency meeting of the Peren district task force convened by the additional deputy commissioner of Jalukie, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang held at the Covid control room on July 17. The meeting was held following receipt of the RT PCR and TrueNat reports which was conducted on July 15, a DIPR report stated.

Briefing the house, Dr. Supongmenla stated that testing was conducted on the frontline workers on July 15 wherein two results came positive. She added that contact tracing was immediately conducted and sent for confirmation. She, however, stated that one was tested negative as per result received on July 17 while the other was re-sent for testing by RT PCR.

She added that the positive patient was shifted to the Covid hospital for further necessary treatment.

Dr. Supongmenla also apprised the house that further testing of contacts had shown eight positive cases including four from team engaged in cooking at quarantine centre, two from security personnel as well as one driver and one staff from a containment zone on duty.

After a threadbare discussion, the house has decided to immediately segregate the positive patients and conduct ICMR confirmation testing as well as contact tracing.

It was also resolved that frontline workers including catering team should not leave their duty station till further directives. It also resolved to discuss on matter relating to the lockdown only after confirmation of the results.

In case of high positive cases among frontline workers, the JAC Peren would support and undertake contact tracing with additional manpower. It has also decided to activate all the sub-divisional task force.

It further decided to fix the time for sample collection after proper discussion with all stakeholders. The tentative timing for collection of samples has been set between 10 am and 1 pm.
