Two NF Railway stations achieve ‘Eat right station’ certification
DIMAPUR — Harishchandrapur and Lumding railway stations of the Northeast Frontier Railways (NFR) have been awarded ‘Eat right station’ certification by Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) in recognition of providing high-quality, nutritious food to passengers.
Those stations have qualified the guidelines established by FSSAI and became the second and third railway stations respectively in NF Railway after Guwahati railway station to get this status. The certifications were awarded for the period from October 19, 2023, to October 18, 2025, informed the NFR chief PRO, Sabyasachi De, on Thursday.
Further, in its endeavour to ensure safe and hygienic food to passengers, it stated that NF Railway has planned to take up more stations in future like Rangiya, Tinsukia, Alipurduar Jn. and Katihar to qualify as ‘Eat Right Station’ by FSSAI for which necessary efforts are being carried out.
Previously, Guwahati railway station of NF Railway was awarded ‘Eat Right Station’ certification by FSSAI for the period from June 2, 2023, to June 2, 2025.
It mentioned that the ‘Eat Right Station’ certification was granted by FSSAI to railway stations adhering to standard food storage and hygiene practices. The certification was awarded by FSSAI to railway stations that set benchmarks in providing safe and wholesome food to passengers. The stations were awarded a certificate upon a conclusion of an FSSAI-empanelled third-party audit agency.
It further stated that the certification was part of the ‘Eat Right India’ movement a large-scale effort by FSSAI to transform the country’s food system to ensure safe, healthy and sustainable food for all Indians.
