Two killed in Tuensang as tribal feud re-surfaces on Friday

Tension is running high in the trouble torn district of Tuensang with two lives claimed following the emergence of fighting between two warring tribes today.
Sources said that early Friday, a 15 years old boy hailed from one particular community was killed by the rival tribe in a village in Tuensang district. As news of this incident spread a police personnel was killed in Tuensang town by the community the victim boy belonged to in the afternoon.
The sources further said that a mob attacked a post of NAP in the town this evening. However, this last incident could not be ascertained. There have also been unconfirmed reports saying a mother and her child have been abducted by the rival tribesmen.Meanwhile, the district administration has taken up concerted security measures in the whole district as a pre-emptive move. It is still not clear whether curfew has been promulgated.
Mention maybe made here that the age-old feud between two Naga tribes in Tuensang crops up from time to time.
The clash of the two tribes was last witnessed on January 7. Following the standoff between the two communities of the district, CrPC 144 was promulgated in Tuensang town with the reinforcements of security force personnel from Nagaland police, NAP, IRB and Assam Rifles. Several organizations including the Nagaland Baptist Churches Council (NBCC) had appealed for calm.
