Two killed in separate road accidents

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 2 : Two persons were killed in separate accidents that occurred on Tuesday. At around 8 to 8.30 am today, a Tata Sumo ferrying 9 passengers from Pungro town met with an accident near Tetheze village. It was bound for Dimapur. Official sources from Pungro said that one of the passengers was found dead on the spot. She was identified as Nongdela, a 19-year-old girl from Pungro village. One of the injured passengers was airlifted to Dimapur for medical treatment while the rest were treated at Pungro CHC. According to the official source, the vehicle was recovered 40 feet below the road. ‘The possible cause of the accident was due to the mechanical failure,” he said. In another accident, a dead body was recovered from the river in the stretch between Kukidolong and Medziphema. Till the filing of this report, the identity of the victim (male) was yet to be identified. A bike was also recovered from the scene of accident.
