Dimapur, Jan. 8 (EMN): Fire and Emergency Services managed to avert two major fire incidents at Thizama in Kohima district and at Tuli in Mokokchung district on January 7.
An update from Fire and Emergency Services stated that it received a call about a fire incident at 4th NAP Camp in Thizama at around 3:51 pm on January 7 while fire fighters were engaged in another major fire which broke out at Jakhama.
It stated that a standby fire team from Kohima fire station (North) along with fire tenders were pressed into action and prevented the fire from spreading to surrounding areas. The cause of fire was not known.
In a related incident, a quick response team from the Fire and Emergency Services managed to control a fire at Ahati in Tuli under Mokokchung district on January 7.
It stated that, on receiving report of the incident, two fire tenders along with sufficient equipment and personnel were pressed into action. It took about 40 minutes for the team to douse the fire.
It added that one truck (dumper) was gutted in the inferno. While there was no report of any casualty, it stated that properties worth INR 40 lakh was lost in the fire. The cause of fire was suspected to be from wiring short-circuit of the vehicle.
