KOHIMA — Two facilities comprising marketing shed and highway amenity centre between Dimapur and Kohima along National Highway-2 were inaugurated on Saturday by the administrator of Kohima Municipal Council (KMC), T Lanusenla Longkumer Peseyie.

The new marketing shed is located at Dzüdza village, while the Highway Amenity Centre is located at Kezanu, Jotsoma, which was initiated by the two village councils of Jotsoma and Dzüdza.

The administrator said the marketing shed will serve a good purpose to the farmers in the area, who are doing well but do not have enough space to market their vegetables. Speaking of the amenity centre, she expressed hope that the much-needed facility would help travelers by providing hygienic toilets and water.

Former MLA, Keneizhakho Nakhro, said that the two projects were initiated for people to benefit from it. While pointing out that the farmers in the area lack privilege of selling their products in the town, he expressed hope that the facilities would come handy for them.

Nakhro also expressed hope that the new facilities would meet the needs of the villages including Jotsoma, Mezoma and other neighbouring villages.

On the highway amenity centre, he said the initiative was necessitated to provide a place where people can access water as well as facilities for washing, bathing and clean toilets for travelers. He added that the amenities will be given free of charge for domestic use and minimal rates for commercial use.

It was informed that the funds collected from the use of the amenities would be used for the maintenance and management of the centre.

Highlights of the programme included an invocation prayer by the pastor of CRC Jotsoma, Revi Gwirie, while the programme was chaired by the chairman of Jotsoma Village Council, Rüdolie Nagi.
