Diphu, Sep. 13 (EMN): According to secret sources the Indian Army Red Horns Division launched an operation in the general area at Hathidandi under Bakalia Police station in Karbi Anglong District based on an input regarding the presence of armed extremists. The extremists were involved in extortion and other illegal activities, added in the press communique.
The statement stated that on September 11, a joint operation was launched by Army and police and two extremists were apprehended from Hathidandi on 12 September morning. The insurgent were in possession of a Thailand made pistol, 07X.22 pistol rounds, 10xAK 47 rounds and 01xMobile phone with sim. The duo extremists were identified as Pawan Satnami (23) son of Jagat Satnami and Kursha Nayak (58) son of Shatrugan Nayak of Hathidandi.
