DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 11

IN the span of two hours on Wednesday afternoon, GRPS personnel stationed at Dimapur Railway Station stumbled upon two corpses, whose identities still remain unconfirmed. Both the recovered corpses are, reportedly, of non-Naga males. According to GRPS sources, the first corpse was recovered from near the Old Over-bridge (referred to as Km 260/ 8-9 in Railway circles) at noon. The disfigured corpse is of a man around 40 years, suspected to have been run over by a train.
Sources said that the victim’s body parts were “totally smashed”, which had rendered the identification process difficult. He was dressed in a “striped Black and White sweater and blue pants. The body is being kept at the District Hospital morgue.
Two hours later, after the first discovery, the GRPS found a dead body at the Railway Siding place, the spot inside the Railway station where goods are unloaded off the trains.
The victim, about 50 years of age, is suspected to have died of “sickness”, according to GRPS sources. The nature of his “sickness” remains a mystery.
He was also dressed in a “striped Black and White shirt, half jacket and shorts”, the GRPS source informed. The body is being kept at the District Hospital morgue.
Going by past incidents, the identities of the victims are likely to remain unconfirmed unless some “relatives” appear on the scene to claim the body. Even the cause of the deaths, still under suspicion currently, will most likely go uninvestigated.
