Diphu, July 19:
Two car lifters were arrested by Karbi Anglong Police on Saturday at Manja during Motor Vehicle Checking (MVC) and also recovered two stolen vehicles.

Informing media persons on Sunday at the official chamber, the officer in-charge of Manja police station, Jitumoni Deka, said the police intercepted two stolen cars proceeding from Delhi on Saturday during routine checking at Manja.

He added that two vehicles coming from Delhi were checked and asked to produce the documents. Since the documents were found to be doubtful, the cars along with the occupants were taken to police station, Deka said. He added that after thorough verification of chassis and engine numbers, they were found to be stolen from Delhi. Deka said the vehicles had fake registration numbers.

In this regard, two persons were arrested. They were identified as Rajkumar Prasanta (27) from Khurai Kongpal village and Laishram Narendra Meitei (31) from Kongpal Ningthoubungleikai village under Prompat police station, Imphal East district of Manipur.
