IMPHAL — Two suspected cadres of Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA-U), who are “highly suspected to be involved” in connection with the missing of two teenage boys in Manipur were arrested.

“In connection with the missing case of two boys on 5.11.2023, Manipur police and security forces arrested two cadres of KRA, who are highly suspected to be involved in committing the crime,” stated a press release issued by the police control room on Tuesday night.

It stated that the arrested persons have been remanded to police custody for further interrogation while combing operations are on to apprehend the other accomplices.

The two teenagers namely N Anthony (19) and M Avinash (16) of Lamsang Akham Awang Leikai in Imphal West district went missing after they left their homes in two motorcycles at around 9 am on Sunday to attend a meeting at Awang Sekmai also under Imphal West district. Avinash is a class 10 student of Don Bosco Langjing.

In another incident on November 7, a Bolero carrying five individuals en route from Churachandpur to Leimakhong was confronted by a mob and took away four of them while one escaped, as per the press note of the police control room.

It stated that security forces are actively working to locate the missing individuals and rescue them.

Exchange of fire between the security forces and armed miscreants in the areas of K Songlung hill range, Koutruk and Tairenpokpi took place on November 7 in which two police personnel and seven civilians sustained injuries, it said.
