Dimapur, Oct. 12 (EMN): The Excise establishment of Dimapur issued on Saturday a press release to the media informing about the enforcement activity.
‘In a major haul of narcotic drugs, the narcotics cell of the Excise department, Nagaland seized a total of 5,800 bottles of Codeine cough syrup on 11th Oct. 2019 at the Excise check gate, Chumoukedima at around 1:00 pm,’ the press release stated.
Personnel of Excise said to have searched a Bolero mini-truck, which had an Assam registration number, during which they found the drugs concealed underneath drinking water bottles, the press release stated.
Two persons namely a Sunny Malakar, 27, and one Tapan Deb, 30, both residents of Bokajan in Assam, were arrested in connection to the case, the updates stated.
“On initial interrogation, both the accused admitted that they were trafficking the drugs from Khakhati, Assam to Kohima,’ the Excise stated.
The persons have been booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act 1985.
‘The value of the seized drugs is estimated to be around nine lakh rupees,’ the press release added.
