Two arrested for murder of Khatkhati trader

Dimapur, June 27: Two days after a liquor trader in Khatkhati, Assam was shot dead inside his home, two persons were arrested on June 25 on charges of committing the crime.

The Superintendent of Police (SP) Karbi Anglong, Gaurav Upadhyay confirmed the news to Eastern Mirror. He said that one of the suspected perpetrators, Mohammed Aizul Islam (27) was arrested from Bagori (Nagaon) in Assam.

The other accused, Nitish Kumar Thakur (27) was arrested from Dimapur.

The SP also informed that the Maruti Alto car, which was found abandoned near Dillai police station in Assam, was registered in the name of Thakur. He later claimed that it was sold to Islam.

The SP informed that the accused persons were in remand for three days before they appear in court. Accordingly, interrogation will be conducted in the next 24 hours, he said.

On the night of June 23, six or seven masked men armed with AK-47 rifles and pistols entered the residence of Moolsingh Rathore at around 8.30 pm and killed him.
