Tuimei residents sensitised on financial literacy

Dimapur, September 13: Residents of Tuimei village in Mon district have decided to permit only genuine SIM cards and to seek for a Customer Service Point (CSP) from appropriate authority. The decision to this effect was taken during the Financial Literacy Campaign (FLC) in Tuimei village on September 11 organised by Lead Bank Mon branch, supported under FIF and managed by NABARD. Rajuselie Lhousa, DPC (FI) NSRLM and resource person, explained the purpose of financial literacy camp which according to him is to guide people in all aspects of money management and help them to improve financial literacy, have proper control on their finances and properly organise monthly financial commitments. Also stressing on the need of having a savings bank account, he urged the people to open their account as early as possible.He shared on primary needs like regular signature, uniformity in documenting particulars with mobile SIM, LPG document, Adhaar, job card, pension etc. with SB A/C to avoid obstruction and secure channelization of benefit schemes. Besides, he urged both the public and the bank to maintain good relationship for all round development. Briefing the villagers that DAY-NRLM is a programme for women, he appealed the menfolk to maintain certain standard by being a role model in the family and continue to catch-up with the changing times. He also reminded the womenfolk to sincerely practice ‘Panchasutra’ in order to grow as good self-help groups. Meanwhile, Hari K Subba, manager of lead bank, Mon branch, shared on the concept of Customer Service Point (CSP) and how it is helping the people especially in the far-flung areas facing difficulty to avail banking facilities. He informed about various alternate channels of banking like internet banking, mobile banking, e-buddy etc. that have made banking very convenient for the people. Besides types of deposits and loans, he touched on social security and insurance schemes like PMJJBY, PMSBY, APY and SSY launched by the Government of India for the benefit of its citizens. He also informed the public to operate their accounts through deposit or withdrawal time to time to avoid becoming an inoperative or dormant account. Altogether 107 members attended the FLC. The meeting was chaired by P Letpong, Deputy Angh and VG Commandant, while the invocation prayer was said by Nokyam, Pastor TBC and the welcome address was delivered by P Khongwang, Angh of Tuimei village. The vote of thanks was delivered by A Chingkai, chairman of village council and the benediction by P Chohnyem, church secretary. It may be mentioned here that Tuimei village have 180 households with 893 population.
