Dimapur, June 19 (EMN): The Chang Students’ Conference (CWS) has decided to impose total bandh in Tuensang town from June 21, as part of its indefinite agitation pertaining to the relocation of District Institute of Education And Training (DIET) in Tuensang district.

A statement from CWS on Sunday stated that a protest would be held at all residences of the elected members on June 20 from 10 am to 12 noon, followed by complete business shutdown from 1 pm, as part of its third phase of agitation.

The apex body of Chang students had earlier sealed the office of DIET, Tuensang on June 14 after the Government of Nagaland failed to respond to its ultimatum served on May 12 regarding the acquisition of land for relocation of the institute in Tuensang.

CWS had also sealed all the offices in Tuensang town on June 15 as phase II of its agitation.

The student body stated that it was not the first time that the district was “suffering to obtain the due rights since the inception of Nagaland- statehood”.

“Hence, the Conference shall not remain silent over the matter of deprivation in regards to developmental opportunities of the district,” it read.
