Tuensang observes International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women

Officials and participants on the occasion of International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women programme at Kuthur village council hall on November 25.

Dimapur, Nov. 25 (EMN): District level centre for women- Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK) and Tuensang district administration observed the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women at Kuthur village council hall on November 25 on the theme “Orange the World.”

The main aims and objective of the event was to convey details information regarding women rights and to practice justice in the society, an update from women welfare officer Songmao M stated.

Songmao also highlighted the core concept of BBBP programme and stressed on violence against women in the society such as domestic violence, sexual harassment and sexual abuse, physical and mental abuse etc. Informing that the women helpline number 181 plays a vital role in all districts of the state, she urged the women to make use of the facility in case of any violence against women.

MSK district co-ordinator, S Niamkoi spoke on the Covid-19 safety measure to be taken as part of awareness. She also highlighted the Dos’ and Don’ts in the combat against the pandemic.

Report further stated that the team has distributed sanitary pads and face mask to all the participants.  Altogether, 30 widows and 40 adolescent girls attended the programme.
