Dimapur, July 2 (EMN): The deputy commissioner of Tuensang, Kumar Ramnikant, on Thursday launched 'Atma Nirbhar Bharat' (ANB), a free ration distribution scheme at Government High Secondary School's auditorium in Tuensang on Thursday.
Under this scheme, the department of Food and Civil Supplies distributes 5kg of rice per head and 1 kg of chaana per family per month for stranded migrant labourers.
The department informed that in the first phase, a total of 356 beneficiaries for the month of May and June were covered while the second phase is on scrutiny phase which may come up to 1000 beneficiaries.
The DC in his speech called upon all to follow the preventive measures such as social distancing, use of face masks and hand washing.
Informing that all Covid-19 positive cases in the district are under Covid care facilities, he urged all to co-operate and extend assistance so that it does not lead to community spread.
Ration distributed in Zunheboto
Under Atma Nirbhar Bharat (ANBS) scheme, the department of Food & Civil Supplies, Zunheboto on Thursday distributed 5 kg of rice and 1 kg of chana free of cost for the month May and June to all the migrant workers who are stranded in the district.
A total of 876 persons have availed the scheme. The scheme has been extended to all the workers who are currently engaged in road construction and other works at the outpost as well. The distribution is expected to be completed by the end of this week, an update from DIPR informed.
