Dimapur, Jan. 16 (EMN): Along with the rest of the Yimkhiung community across the state, Shamator Town Thüneo committee organised the Tsüngkamneo festival on Monday with advisor, Yimkhiung Tribal Council (YTC), S Yanba, as the special guest.
Yanba wished the people present a joyous celebration of the festival and a prosperous year ahead. Significance of the festival was shared by Dokiu Kecham, a public leader.
Pungro-based civil society organisations under the aegis of Yimkhiung Tribal Council (YTC) celebrated Tsungkamneo at Pungro town on Monday.
Addressing the festive gathering, EAC Pungro, Yitachu Thurr, shared on self-reliance and promotion of local and organic products, while also encouraging and supporting local entrepreneurs. He also spoke on the need to preserve culture and traditional practices.
Executive chairman YTC, Makhezo and president of Yimkhiung Women’s Organisation, Resangla Susana, also spoke on the occasion.
The significance of the Tsungkamneo festival was shared by head GB, Pungro Town, Yansomong.
The programme was chaired by president YLA Pungro unit, Throngkila.
Meanwhile, the Yimkhiung oldest village Y Anner, also celebrated Tsüngkamneo, which commenced with a prayer from pastor Pintsü and a message from head GB, K Yimtokiu. The village council organised various competitions such as volleyball, traditional songs and dances and top spinning, to celebrate the occasion.
