Kohima, Jan. 17 (EMN): A book titled, “Tsie Teiu Nu Kepathadie Kro Puo” written by Khrinyio Leruo was released by former chief minister and Ura Academy President Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu at Chakhesang Baptist Church, Kitsubozou, Kohima on Jan. 17.
Liezietsu congratulated and praised the author for his hard work and effort. “We read very less. Authors invest a lot of time to write, so let us take the time to read their works,” he said.
Recalling the early days of Ura Academy, he said that there were only a handful of books in Tenyidie and that without literature, language becomes almost non-existent. He also mentioned how their journey of writing Tenyidie literature in the Ura Academy has grown from very few to 220 members at present. He expressed happiness over students opting to do higher studies in Tenyidie dialect, adding that its growth as a language is encouraging.
Speaking about the book, the author, Leruo said that the book is a collection of proverbs collected over a period of time and not his wisdom, and that due attribution has been given. He added that the younger generation would gain knowledge and wisdom from the book.
Rev. Khrotso Mere stressed on the need to write more in one’s language so that younger generation would be encouraged to pick their pens and write in their native languages. He also expressed concern on the present young generation and their ignorance about their own history and culture.
Vipralhou Kesiezie, Rtd. Director (SCERT) mentioned how Leruo as an elder has seen and tasted the ‘truths’ of life has decided to entrust all his knowledge to the younger generation. He also said that the book would be very useful and important for Tenyimia youth.
