Dimapur, Sep. 1 (EMN): The nutrition scheme Poshan Abhiyaan for Tseminyu in Kohima district was inaugurated on August 30 in Tseminyu sub division. The programme was conducted in the town hall of Tseminyu in Kohima district.
The event was inaugurated by Nokchasashi Kichu, additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of Tseminyu subdivision, as the guest of honour. The programme is stated to have been organised by the department of Social Welfare in collaboration with line departments.
During the event Anganwadi workers, members of self-help groups with their local produce also participated, updates stated.
The government publicity agency, the department of Information and Public Relations (IPR) gave updates to the media on Sunday informing about the programme.
Addressing the event, Kichu expressed appreciations for the ‘cash crop farmers’ especially vegetable and fruit producers, the IPR explained. He urged them to farming ‘in extensive manner,’ the updates stated.
The ADC visited an “organic vegetable mela” put up by various self help groups in the town hall, the updates stated.
The child development project officer of Kohima, James Ezung, also addressed the event. He delivered a speech on the topic of Poshan Abhiyaan-IEC, the IPR stated. He spoke about complementary feeding and that it should be maintained. The officer also spoke about the types of malnutrition that causes health problems.
Ezung asked the participants to understand proper nutrition to build up the health of children, the IPR added.
