Maybe the title of this article is a bit misleading. The question should be: Which glasses are you choosing to wear today and the coming days regardless of your circumstances?
Last week we discussed the subject of fear. This week let’s delve a bit more into it.
The dominant emotion everywhere in the world is fear. This applies to every part of human activities—finance, industry, farmers, workers, thinkers, and government officials (Herbert Hoover, a former president of the United States). Medical authorities also realise that the world is in the iron-clasped grip of an invisible enemy, whose unrelenting stranglehold is destroying the vital life of society. Doctors fight an increasing number of battles against this real, yet unreal, monster in their patients. They are studying more and more the mental man along with the physical man. The mental health industry, even here in this state, is getting more and more attention.
People are looking for solutions- how to get rid of this unmasked monster: fear!
Here a text taken from the Bible which could easily have been written today.
The king's countenance was changed... the joints of his loins were loosed, and his knees smote one against another. Dan. 5:6
In the political arena, world rulers are almost to the same frustration point that King Belshazzar reached. The night his empire dissolved into the rubble of history amid the wine, women, and song of a state banquet, the Bible says.
A person’s countenance changes when fear stares in their face.
The cause of fear in that day was the organised might of the victorious Medes and Persians. What is it today?
Awful blasts of atomic bombs, intercontinental missiles, germ warfare, and deadly rays from outer space. The word cancer gets nicknamed “C” when we do not want a person to know they have it. Meaning relatives and friends keep the truth hidden from the ones suffering to not cause “fear”.
In his first inaugural speech, the late Franklin Delano Roosevelt, President of the United States and skillful statesman, said: So first of all, let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself—nameless, unjustified, unreasoning, terror.
The response to this was a so called “Magna carta” that he and another Statesman drew up and summarise what people needed would freedom from.
They first of all recognised what mankind needed- they had wanted basic needs like food, water, and shelter. They had the need to put their faith in something or someone. They should be able to voice their opinions about anything without fear of being shut down. They should be able to worship what they believed in according to their choice.
They concluded: mankind needed four Freedoms: 1. Freedom from Want, 2. Freedom from Fear, 3. Freedom of Speech, 4. and Freedom of Religion.
During the most dreadful conflict of history, these statesmen listed fear as one of the four major evils of the world.
Our 21st century world is enslaved by fear. Of what? War, secret agencies, hunger, unknown sickness and oppression to name a few. These Allied statesmen solemnly vowed to give themselves to the fight against the Black Monster of fear. Every rational person should devote himself or herself to fighting this vicious monster. Some of the greatest human tragedies have befallen those who are victims of fear. Without doubt, fear is the deadliest enemy of all.
Who and Why- fear respects no one. It torments the unlearned and the university educated alike. It strikes at those born in high places as well as those brought up in a little remote village. It walks the floors of the fancy houses as well as the ones in the mud huts and those living under bamboo thatched houses. Human beings from all walks of life have failed equally in the assignment of building a successful and happy life on this earth for themselves and others as well as preparing for the life after this period on earth, which is to live forever with God, the Eternal One.
The majority of people will strive to build a successful life. For themselves. Maybe for their immediate families. With striving for their own success, they will fight so hard to get it that it is often at the cost of someone else’s happiness and peace and well being. So where is the joy in all that? Preparing for the life to come- which of course will be way longer and forever, is too scary for people to think about. They rather wait till it comes. But that is like planning a vocation but not really planning it and trying to get on a plane without a ticket, get into a hotel without booking in and going around in that country not knowing where to go or eat, what to do, who to get in contact with and how to get back if you even made it there!
No person will be so stupid to go unprepared on a holiday or any trip outside their town or city. People will plan, get contacts and information about the country they plan to visit and have a detailed plan of their trip from beginning to end. Yet to prepare accordingly for our lives seems to be extremely difficult.
Unmasking the Monster: The hideous Black Monster must be unmasked. To do so, we cannot deal with it collectively. We have to personally face it. And then disclose the effect of this fear on individuals.
Real Fear and Shadow Fear: The first step toward deliverance from this demonic monster is to know that two kinds of fear exist: real fear and shadow fear. You would feel real fear if you were to meet an uncaged lion! If you fear something that does not exist, you are experiencing shadow fear. An instable personality result from shadow fear. This unreal fear is what we must fight.
What are some common phobias?
In many instances, persons permitted their petty fears to become powerful phobias. When a person consistently reacts unreasonably to a fear, he or she has permitted it to become a phobia.

These are just some.
To conclude here for now- This is how you can get a victory over fear. 1) Recognise it. 2) Analyze it. 3) Modify it. 4) Resist it with action. 5) Fight it with the Bible. 6) Fight it with prayer. 7) Consult a minister or trusted skilled wise person.
Start to recognise it. Think what would be the worst that could happen and what would the best. Probably the reality will be somewhere in between.
Do not fear “fear”. Face it and then fight it.
Ask for help if need be.
He said: Fear not for I am with you!
Let that be a comfort to you this week. You are not alone but Someone is right there with you, wanting to help you be at peace.
Anyone.
You!
Blessings,
