Dimapur, Feb. 14 (EMN): In yet another blow to the much-desired attempts to stitch unity within, and among, various armed Naga groups, the NNC and the FGN, in a joint meeting on Wednesday, decided to “withdraw” their support to the leadership of ‘Gen.’ Thinoselie M Keyho as the president of the NNC.
In a joint statement, the two groups informed that they have resolved to “entrust” Senka Ao, the vice president of the NNC is with the responsibility of managing the affairs of the group.
“…the government of India and the NNPGs have agreed to resolve the Naga political issue through negotiation based on the understanding that the GoI recognises the historical and political rights of the Nagas to self determine their future in consonance with their distinct identity. In the event of a final agreement being reached through the political dialogue, the Naga people will have the final say in giving their endorsement.
“However contrary to what is expected from the NNC president, Gen. (Retd) Thinoselie M Keyho has chosen to oppose the talks before the talks have reached any logical conclusion. The NNC under his leadership has failed to serve the interest of the Naga people as it has failed to make any policies to give political guidance to the nation,” the statement read.
