TRIFEDs Tribal artisan mela underway in Wokha

Dimapur, May 9 (EMN): With an aim to promote and develop tribal products from the Northeastern region, a two-day tribal artisan mela sponsored by the Tribal Co-operative Marketing Development Federation (TRIFED) India, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, got underway at Wokha town hall.

The deputy commissioner of Wokha, Ajit Kumar Ranjan, who inaugurated the mela on Tuesday, expressed gratitude to the representatives of TRIFED India, NEHHDC and NBHM for providing opportunities to the tribal artisans of Wokha district through increased efficiency in procurement, logistics, and marketing of tribal products.

He also urged the artisans to take feedback from TRIFED and improve the quality of their products. He mentioned that TRIFED would not only help in sourcing tribal art and craft in its original form but also in spreading awareness about all of its activities, stated a DIPR report. 

Sh. Pamthing Keishing, deputy manager of TRIFED Regional Office, Guwahati, highlighted the empanelment process for tribal artisans and their products. He explained the importance of empanelment and its benefits in marketing tribal products. Besides, he also encouraged the artisans to showcase their unique and diverse products at the event. 

The tribal artisan mela is being organised to provide a platform for tribal communities to exhibit their talents and skills and showcase their products to a wider audience. 

The event was chaired by Anuranjan Singh, MGNF from the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, government of India. Singh expressed gratitude to the participants and TRIFED for their contribution towards the success of the event.
