DIMAPUR — Tribe Fighting Championship (TFC): Fight Night, a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) event to be held in Dimapur featuring professional athletes from various states as well as from outside the country, including Neitso Angami, Arsenba Ozukum, and Jawed Amhadi, among others, is scheduled for November 2.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday at The Combat Academy in Chümoukedima, co-founder of TFC Khriemelie Metha stated that the event will take place at the Indoor Badminton Stadium, DC Court, Dimapur.

Elaborating on the name TFC, Metha expressed that Nagas view the word ‘tribe’ as representative of their people and roots. However, ‘tribe’ can also signify a team or group of friends. Therefore, they wanted to establish it as something distinct, focussing on competing in the cage and fighting for something greater than oneself.

Highlights of the event

The event will feature Neitso Angami fighting against Jawed Amhadi from Afghanistan in the 68 kg catchweight category. Aboto Ayemi, a professional fighter with an unbeaten record of 3-0, will face Nikunj Sharma from Punjab in the 56.7 kg flyweight category.

Arsenba Ozukum will face Ebiangmi Langstang from Meghalaya in a regional bout under the 56.7 kg flyweight category. Mairidin Newmai will compete against Carrmore Rumnong from Meghalaya in the 61.2 kg catchweight category.

Michael Rovei from Manipur will fight Jonibor Tron from Meghalaya in the 61.2 kg bantamweight category.

Meanwhile, Metha shared that they aim to venture beyond MMA and have added two kickboxing bouts. Thoidingjam Goroba from Manipur will fight Amrith Khrishna from Kerala in the 61.2 kg bantamweight kickboxing category, while Nagaland’s Vipu Zhimomi will face Chingangbam Birju Singh from Manipur in the 52 kg strawweight kickboxing category.

He maintained that all bouts will feature professional athletes, with no amateurs competing on this card. He also noted that Taekwondo will be performed inside the MMA arena during the event.

Further, he stated that the bouts in TFC will showcase athletes’ skills without a winner being declared at the end. However, there will be monetary rewards.

Tickets available on ahibi.in

Kakivi Chishi from ahibi.in, the ticketing partner of TFC, informed that tickets are available on the site starting from October 9.

The different ticket categories available are elevated general gallery (INR 699), premium gallery (INR 1,500), floor seats (INR 2,000), and cage side (INR 6,000).

The gates will open at 5 pm, and tickets will also be available at the venue on the day of the event.
