Tribal hostel inaugurated at Polytechnic Sedem

DIMAPUR — Advisor of Transport and Technical Education, Temjenmenba, inaugurated a tribal hostel at Government Polytechnic Sedem in Tuensang village on Tuesday.

Speaking at the inaugural function, Temjenmenba appreciated the generosity of P Khel of Tuensang village donating land for the establishment of institutions like the Polytechnic Sedem in Tuensang. He emphasised the importance of the Polytechnic in becoming an inspiration by producing outstanding students academically.

Temjenmenba urged the gathering to adopt an open mindset and encouraged students from other districts to join the institution, stated a DIPR report.

The advisor also highlighted the efforts undertaken by the department of Technical Education in improving infrastructure, providing necessary equipment, and ensuring a qualified faculty in all polytechnic institutions across Nagaland. He announced plans to initiate skill development programmes and introduce online teaching modes by bringing in experienced teaching faculties.

Temjenmenba further assured to address the challenges faced by Polytechnic Sedem before the start of the next academic session and the construction of a girls’ hostel in the next phase.

In a short speech, MLA Imtichuba expressed his joy on the establishment of a tribal hostel at Polytechnic Sedem. He thanked the Ministry of Tribal Affairs for recognising and addressing the needs of the local community. He also acknowledged the sacrifices made by the faculty of Polytechnic Sedem despite facing challenges in basic facilities.

The programme was chaired by Vipulhou Lhoungu, director of Technical Education, while an invocation prayer was said by Rev. T Among, pastor of TSBL, and the welcome address was delivered by Among Longkumer, principal of Polytechnic Sedem.

Speeches were also delivered by the deputy commissioner of Tuensang, Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa; additional secretary of Higher and Technical Education, Sentiyanger Pongen and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Tiakaba Amer, additional director of Technical Education.
