Tribal Circuit, bailey bridge inaugurated in Noklak district
Dimapur, May 21 (EMN): Advisor for Tourism, Art and Culture H Khehovi Yeputhomi on Saturday inaugurated Tribal Circuit at Noklak in the presence of Advisor for Prisons, Printing, and Stationery H Haiying.
Yeputhomi said Noklak had entered the tourism map of the world with the inauguration of the Tribal Circuit. Noting that Noklak district had the potential for tourism with facilities, he expressed hope that Noklak district would go forward in the tourism sector in the days to come.
He said Tribal Circuit Noklak was constructed under Swadesh Darshan 2016-17 funded by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. He requested the people to take ownership and take care of the facilities.
Haiying meanwhile expressed hope that Tribal Circuit will beneficial in many ways. He thanked the Tourism Ministry, Government of India for putting Noklak on the tourism map of the world.
Deputy Commissioner Noklak, Hiazu Meru in his speech said that the Noklak district has a lot of potential in the tourism sector with places like ITC Dan, Wansoi, Choklangan, Wui, Chipur, Peshu, etc. The district is rich in handicrafts, black smith, handloom, traditional bags, etc which requires government intervention.
Remarks were also given by the Executive Engineer, Tourism S Hutoka Sema where he mentioned that 15 components have been successfully constructed at Tribal Circuit in Noklak.
Khiamniungan Tribal Council President, M Thangou expressed his appreciation to all the stakeholders and landowners for the successful completion of the circuit.
Bailey bridge, approach road inaugurated
Meanwhile, H Haiying also inaugurated a bailey bridge at Luvei Mong (Langnok village road), and community hall at Langnok village on Friday.
In his inaugural speech, Advisor H Haiying urged the villagers to know their responsibility, be it leaders or the general public, and learn to live in unity, an update from DIPR informed.
While expressing his appreciation for the good workmanship towards the construction of the bailey bridge of Luveimong River, and the community hall at Langnok village, Haiying requested the people to take care of government facilities and take ownership of the infrastructures. He asked the people to work hard and sought cooperation for more development in the days to come.
Deputy Commissioner of Noklak, Hiazu Meru said the government is giving importance to the border district and villages — Langnok village is located near the international boundary between India and Myanmar — and advised the VCC, GBs, VGs, and village elders to control and check the illegal activities such as transportation of intoxicating substances. Meru appreciated the advisor for the timely construction of the long-awaited Bailey bridge and the community hall, it said.
Mandal President, Peshen, and District Planning officer (Noklak), Meren Jamir also spoke during the occasion, wherein the keynote address was given by head GB Langnok Khonglai, while VCC Langnok Pengchang delivered the vote of thanks.
He also inaugurated Nokyan village approach road connecting Nokyan to Nokyan B village at Noklak in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Noklak, Hiazu Meru on Saturday.
Haiying encouraged the landowners to provide land when required by the government for the construction of infrastructure or developmental activities.
“In order to develop the villages and towns we should think and act positively,” he added.
Hiazu Meru appreciated Nokyan village for constructing the approach road under MGNREGA. Meru added that proper planning is important for all kinds of development be it infrastructure or roads.
Chairing the programme, VCC Nokyan, Khengo informed that the approach road was constructed under MGNREGA measuring more than 1 km connecting Nokyan to Nokyan B.
