DIMAPUR — The state transport department has announced revised fares for Nagaland State Transport (NST) bus services across the state, citing increase in the price of high-speed diesel (HSD). A notification to this effect was released to the media on Monday.

The new bus fares will see an increase of up to 15%. Specifically, the fare for super deluxe category of buses and mini bus/city buses will increase from the existing fare of INR 174 to INR 200. For semi deluxe buses, the fare has been increased to INR 156 from the earlier rate of INR 136.

The weighted average is at INR 155 (existing fare rate) and INR 178 (revised fare rate), it said.

In terms of hiring charges, the department notified that hiring charges for long-distance journeys beyond 40-kilometre radius would be based on the category of buses.

For local hiring charges within 40 km radius of the stations or sub-station, the rate for a time period of 12 hours has been fixed at INR 6000 while the hiring charge for periods beyond 12 hours and up to 24 hours will be INR 5000.

This has the concurrence of Finance Department vide RFC No.469 dated 14.11.2023, the notification stated.
