A collaborative training workshop on products and skill development was organised by Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency in collaboration with National Institute of Design, Bengaluru at the Nagaland Bamboo Resource Centre, Dimapur from November 10-22.
Altogether, 25 artisans and craftspersons participated in the workshop which was conducted on bamboo furniture and basketry. Speaking at the closing function of the training, Hoto Yeptho, Additional Director, Land Resources congratulated the trainees on completing the training and encouraged them to utilize the knowledge they have received during the training to the fullest for their benefit.
Hoto called upon the trainees not to rely on government jobs alone but to give a prime focus to establish private enterprises with a broad perspective.
He handed out certificates to the trainees who participated from villages from around Dimapur district.
Speaking on behalf of the trainees, I. Hokuto Kiho thanked the two departments for organizing the training that has immensely benefited local carpenters in terms of skills and knowledge. He said that all the trainees who attended the training are from villages, equipped outdated tools, which cannot be used for the training they have received.
