Training to empower farmers held in Noklak

Dimapur, Sep. 23 (EMN): A training termed as ‘Empowered farmer – empowered society’ was held at Jungyam Fisheries near Ayush hospital in Noklak on September 20 with Dharamveer Kamboj, recipient of President Award, as the resource person.

Speaking at the training, Dharamveer Kamboj encouraged the farmers to be self- reliant and learn division of labour like farmers for farming and SHG for food processing and marketing. He emphasised on good packaging, lab analysis and branching and urged the farmers to preserve their biodiversity and traditional knowledge of farming and agriculture, a DIPR report stated.

Dharamveer Kamboj also trained the farmers on processing of food products like herbs and medicine, plant essential oils, soap, shampoo, face gel, aloe vera, juice and jam made from mango, guava, kiwi, gooseberries, pineapple, ginger, lemon etc.

It stated that the deputy commissioner of Noklak, Hiazu Meru, and the superintendent of police, Dr. Pritpal Kaur also spoke during the training.

Meanwhile, Dr. Pritpal Kaur also presented a food processing machine to Noklak farmers’ society during the training.
