Training on WebGIS portal gets underway in Mokokchung

As part of its initiation to develop a mechanism of monitoring, a four-day training on “WebGIS portal and mobile application for monitoring and collective collection of field data” got underway on February 15. The programme is being initiated by the Nagaland Forest Management Project (NFMP), Mokokchung

The objective of the training was to improve the understanding of ground-level staff and sensitise the key stakeholders on monitoring, evaluation and collection of GIS data, said Dr. Sentitula, DFO Mokokchung, who is supervising the training.

The WebGIS portal and mobile applications are designed as par with the global standard. The applications would help in assuring to meet the regulatory requirements of the project goal of forest conservation as well as human and environmental development, an update stated.

A panel of experts including Anurag Verma, Limasanen, Supongchiten Jamir and Anamoa Imsong GIS team members from PMU NFMP, presented various modules and their uses under the WebGIS portal and the mobile application during the training session

The expert broadly discussed the different modules of the newly developed GIS website of NFMP Project and the use of WebGIS portal for evaluation and monitoring purpose and mobile application for easy and accurate collection of primary data.

A total of 53 participants from Mokokchung, Zuneheboto and Tuensang districts attended the training.
