Training on practices of organic ginger production held at Lingtak village
Dimapur, April 4 (EMN): A two-day training and demonstration on packages and practices of organic ginger production was held at Lingtak village in Longleng district on March 29 and 30, 2022.
It was organised by KVK Longleng, ICAR Nagaland Centre, with Dr. Azeze, Scientist (Horticulture) and Dr. Pempa Bhutia, Scientist (Agro Forestry) from ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, Medziphema as resource persons, an update stated.
Dr. Lily Ngullie, SMS and in-charge KVK Longleng spoke about the implementation of TSP project on large scale cultivation of ginger (var. nadia) at Lingtak village. Packages and practices of organic ginger cultivation along with demonstration was delivered by Dr. Azeze and importance of conservation of agroforestry trees especially on top of hills for conservation of soil and water was delivered by Dr. Pempa Bhutia.
During the programme 160 q. of ginger rhizome (Var Nadia) and inputs were distributed to the selected farmers for ginger cultivation in an eight hectare compacted area. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks from village council chairman Shungai Phom. All together 48 farmers with KVK staff and scientists attended the programme, it added.
