Training on National Mission on Natural Farming held at Chiechama village with 100 farmers attending sessions.

DIMAPUR — A one-day training programme on natural farming under National Mission on Natural Farming (NMNF) was held on March 5 at Chiechama village in Kohima district.
A total of 100 farmers were trained in two session comprising of 50 farmers each per session, an update stated.
In his keynote address, Mhasikhotuo Mere, Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer (SDAO) Chiephobozou, Department of Agriculture, encouraged the farmers to adopt natural farming system in their farming practices for sustenance.
He also enlightened the farmers to grow climate resilience crops such as Jobs tear and foxtail millet, which are not only drought tolerance but it can fetch higher price even in the local markets.

The Agriculture officers along with the Krishi Sakhis (CRP) under SDAO Chiephobozou imparted training to the trainees on various topics under National Mission on Natural Farming (NMNF) 2025-26 with the aim to promote sustainability by using bio-inputs.
The basic concept, relevance, scope and constraint of natural farming in Nagaland was highlighted at the training.
The training also touched on the hazardous effects of the use of chemicals in farming, which is not only harmful for health but can be detrimental to diverse ecosystem, which will deteriorate both soil and water used efficiency in Nagaland.
Disease and pest management under natural farming was also highlighted in the training session.
The farmers were also demonstrated on the use of light trap and the use of naturally available materials for pest management in their fields.
The sowing techniques, preparation of compost, clean cultivation methods, soil health management and women empowerment through agriculture entrepreneurship were also imparted to the trainees.
