Lend a Hand India conducts 2nd training of trainers (ToT) on multi-sector skill education in Phesama.

DIMAPUR — Lend a Hand India, a special pilot project of LIC Housing Finance Limited (LIC-HFL) under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), successfully conducted the 2nd training of trainers (ToT) on ‘Operationalising multi-sector skill education in Grade 9 and 10 students aligned to National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2023.’
An update from Lend a Hand India stated that the training programme was held at St. Paul School, Phesama, from September 9 to the 12th with the support of Samagra Shiksha Nagaland.
As part of the multi-sector approach, the training covered three diverse modules namely fashion, coding and healthcare. It stated that expert training team from Lend a Hand India facilitated each of the modules over the first three days and the participants were given hands-on practical trainings on all the three modules.

On the concluding day, a special session on pedagogy, lesson planning and assessments was conducted to strengthen teaching practices in vocational education.
The training saw active participation of 30 vocational trainers and subject teachers from 21 government schools and 5 private schools, representing 5 districts namely Kohima, Dimapur, Mokokchung, Kiphire and Peren. It provided the participants with in-depth knowledge and practical strategies to implement those skill-based modules effectively in classrooms.
It stated that representatives from the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) were present on all four days of the training. It added that their presence and observations has helped in gathering valuable insights into the pilot curriculum, thereby further reinforcing collaborative efforts to integrate skill education into mainstream schooling.
On the last day, the NBSE academic officer, Dziesevolie Tsurho, addressed the participants, wherein he stressed on the importance of skilling students to address unemployment problems. He spoke about the evolving landscape of education, especially with the NEP 2020 and NCF 2023 giving strong emphasis on skilling and multi-disciplinary approach to education, thereby highlighting the crucial need for the teachers to equip themselves well with multiple skills in order to effectively deliver quality education.
He concluded by urging the participants to become brand ambassadors for skilling in the state.
The valedictory session was also attended by Dr. Chumbeni Kikon, joint mission director of Samagra Shiksha Nagaland, and Fr. Charles D’Souza, headmaster of St Paul School.
It stated that certificates were given to all the participants.
It further mentioned that the initiative signified an important milestone in bridging academics with hands-on skills in line with the vision of the NEP 2020 and NCF 2023. The programme was aimed at empowering teachers to foster holistic and future-ready learning opportunities for students across Nagaland.
