DIMAPUR — A one-day training program on livestock insurance for para veterinarians and farmers was conducted on April 16 at the office of chief veterinary officer (CVO) Tseminyu. According to a DIPR report, the programme aimed to create awareness about the important benefits and procedures of livestock insurance among stakeholders in the livestock sector.
Dr. Gwathonlo Tsela, Deputy Director of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, in his address, emphasised the critical role of livestock insurance in safeguarding farmers against financial losses and in promoting sustainable livestock farming.

The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Kenalo Kath, Chief Veterinary Officer, Tseminyu, who highlighted the significance of insurance coverage in strengthening rural livelihoods and ensuring economic resilience among livestock farmers.
The technical session was led by Dr. Hishalo Tsela, VAS & Nodal Officer for livestock insurance, who provided detail insights into the scheme including enrolment procedure claims process and the benefits available under the programme.
An interactive session was also held allowing participants to raise queries, share experience and give feedback.
