Training on hospital disaster preparedness underway
DIMAPUR — A three-day hospital disaster preparedness and capacity-building programme organised by Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) under Home Department, in collaboration with the Department of Health and Family Welfare and Geo Hazards Society, India, got underway at Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) on Tuesday.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, Johnny Ruangmei, joint CEO of NSDMA, gave a brief overview of the training, which was followed with a speech by Dr. Sendimeren Aonok, managing director of NHAK.
A NSDMA press release stated that brief speech was also delivered by Dr. Ritu Thur, principal director of Health department, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Khrolou Koza Lohe, NSDMA assistant manager (training and education).
The resource persons of the programme are Dr. Hari Kumar, Pranav, Shivangi and Tiakala Difusa.
The main objective of the training was prepared doctors and medical practitioners for any hazards that Nagaland is vulnerable to. The training also aims to bring out hospital disaster management plans for all district hospitals, CHC and PHC in the state.
Various topics such as earthquake preparedness in health facilities, falling hazards and fire hazards risk identification and mitigation would be covered during the training.
Besides, it would constitute hospital disaster management committee and incident response system etc.
The inaugural programme was chaired by Dr. Nyan Kikon, deputy director and state nodal officer of DM Cell, department of Health.
