Training on fruit, vegetable processing held at Humtso village

DIMAPUR — North Eastern Regional Agriculture Marketing Corporation (NERAMAC) Limited under the Ministry of DoNER, in association with Wokha District Entrepreneurship Task Force (ETF), organised a skill training programme on fruit and vegetable processing at Humtso village on Tuesday.

The special guest of the event, Y Mhonbemo Humtsoe, MLA, in his address, highlighted the various government schemes and programmes initiated in the rural areas to uplift the economy of the common people. The MLA assured that the government is serious about implementing the schemes through different departments.

Since Humtso village has been selected as one of the aspirational villages in the district, he urged all the heads of offices in the district to give their best to implement the schemes and projects earmarked for the village.

Humtsoe also urged the farmers to attend the training seriously to enhance their knowledge in the production sector.

He also expressed optimism that Humtso village being one of the leading producers of fruits and vegetables in Wokha district, the farmers of the village will greatly benefit from the programme.

He further thanked NERAMAC and Wokha District Entrepreneurship Task Force for giving an opportunity to Humtso village to have hands-on skill training on fruit and vegetable processing.

Deputy Commissioner of Wokha, Ajit Kumar Ranjan, who is also the chairman of ETF, said that both the central and state governments are doing their best to implement various schemes and projects to benefit the general public.

The DC also informed that the government is ever ready to assist the farmers, entrepreneurs and businessmen of the district, through the partnership with NERAMAC, Skill Development and ETF.

Humtso being one of the aspirational villages of the district, Ranjan requested all the concerned departments in the district to judiciously implement all the schemes and projects earmarked for the village.

Deputy Manager, NERAMAC, Bhrigu Medhi, said that the main objective of NERAMAC is marketing of agriculture products and providing skill training on fruit and vegetable processing.

Medhi also informed that the training will be provided to three villages namely, Humtso, Phiro and Old Riphyim.

Through chairman ETF, the NERAMAC has agreed to provide 40 days of training for the farmers, he said and requested all the farmers to attend the programme.

During the programme, heads of offices gave updates on the implementation of various schemes and projects for Humtso village under aspirational village.
