Dimapur, May 20 (EMN): In an effort to disseminate correct information to the villages and enhance community participation in managing the Covid-19 pandemic, the Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM), Health and Family Welfare department, Social Welfare department and churches in Nagaland have come together to impart training at community level.

The training is being organised to enhance the capacity of church and community leaders on “Management of mild Covid-19 symptoms at home” to the rural communities covering all villages across the state.

An update from NSRLM stated that majority of the Covid-19 cases have mild symptoms that could be managed at home by following simple precautions and treatment regimens. Therefore, the training focuses on appropriate home management, recognition of worsening of symptoms, access to medical facilities for timely interventions, apprehensions and myths, while also ensuring Covid-19 vaccine awareness, appropriate behaviour, health seeking behaviour, and immunity building measures amongst the rural populace.

It added that training at community level has already begun through the NSRLM community institutions on May 20.

To further minimise the risk of infection at the villages, the state government has also instructed the district task forces for effective community surveillance system through ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, SHGs and other community based organisation (CBOs).
