Training for tour operators and guides underway

DIMAPUR — The first training for tour operators and tour guides, which is an integral part of the Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Programme (ESDP) initiated by the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME), was launched on November 7 at YouthNet Dimapur Centre, 4th Mile near Agri Expo Site in Diphupar.

An update from YouthNet stated that the training programme was inaugurated by the joint director and head of MSME Development and Facilitation office, Tali Longchar.

In his address, Longchar emphasised the paramount importance of ESDP training initiatives under MSME, which are specifically designed to foster entrepreneurship and enhance skill development in the dynamic and diverse landscape of the MSME sector. He highlighted the scheme’s goal to promote new enterprises while simultaneously strengthening the capacity of existing MSMEs.

Longchar further underscored the programme’s role in cultivating an entrepreneurial culture within the country.

Also speaking at the launch programme, the director of YouthNet, Nuneseno Chase, stressed on the expected transformative impact of the training on the local community and the tourism sector in Chümoukedima and Nagaland. She commended the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of MSME and YouthNet in bringing the vital initiative to fruition.

She also expressed her belief in the potential of the participants and their role in shaping the future of tourism in the region.

The YouthNet nodal officer, Razouvikhol Luho, in his welcome speech, highlighted the significance of the programme and how it aligned with the vision of fostering entrepreneurship and skill development in Chümoukedima and Nagaland as a whole.

Luho expressed gratitude to all partners and supporters who have made the initiative possible. He stated that the tour operator training programme was a testament to the collective commitment to the development and growth of the local tourism sector.

It mentioned that the tour operator training is a comprehensive six-week programme being implemented by YouthNet in partnership with India Trail as the resource partner. It added that the department of Tourism, Government of Nagaland, has extended support by recognising its potential to drive growth and innovation in the tourism industry.
