Training for polling officials in Longleng and Mon begin
DIMAPUR — The first phase training for polling officials of Longleng and Mon districts began on Saturday at GHSS Bautung in Longleng town and GHSS Mon and Mon town council hall respectively.
Speaking at the training in Longleng, the deputy commissioner (DC), Dharam Raj, stated that election process is an essence of democratic country like India. He expressed confidence that each polling personnel would perform their respective responsibility without failure.
The DC also called upon all the legible voters to participate in free and fair election, stated a DIPR report.
The assistant election officer (AEO) of Longleng, in short speech, urged the trainees to seek assistance from the master trainers whenever required and stressed the importance of seeking clarification to enhance their understanding and efficiency in carrying out their responsibilities.
The inaugural programme was chaired by EAC and nodal officer of training management, Vitolu Chishi. He also proposed the welcome address.
The training was divided into two sessions and ended with the hands-on demonstration on EVM and VVPAT.
The second phase training would be held on April 9.
The first phase training for both men and women polling officials in Mon district was held at GHSS Mon and Mon town council hall.
Speaking at the training, the ADC of Mon, K Temjennaro Longkumer, briefed on the roles and responsibilities of the polling officers and encouraged all the trainees to take part in choosing their leaders. She also urged them to work with dedication as a team for the successful conduct of the election.
The EAC of Mon, Nyamok Konyak, also briefed the women polling personnel about the roles and responsibilities.
The master trainers for women polling personnel were Mary, Opentsani and Chenkang Konyak, while the master trainers for men polling personnel included Dokingla, Honya Chingyah, H David Konyak, Neangnyu Konyak, H Benjamin Konyak, W Kawang Konyak, W Bangkai Konyak, T Limawapang, CH Manwang Konyak, Chingkai, Doklong M Phom, and Yangto.
Meanwhile, training of sector magistrate, flying squad teams and micro observers was held in the conference hall of the deputy commissioner’s office in Kihpire on Saturday. The master trainers were Dr. I Temjentoshe Ozukum, Gagan Ch. Mishra and Vika Sumi.
The SDO of Kiphire, Sulanthung, was the main speaker of the training programme.
