Dimapur, May 17 (EMN): Team Dimapur led by Agriculture Production Minister Y Kikheto Sema on Monday visited the railway station in Dimapur and on inspection, decided to keep the coaches reserved for Covid Care Centre. An update from DIPR stated that it would be utilised especially for “migrant labourers as and when need arises because presently beds are still available at Chumoukedima CCC.”

The team after inspection concluded that the train coaches were not feasible to be used as Covid Hospital  owing to numerous practical and logistical difficulties, it read.

It stated that the team observed that “even if the coaches were to be utilised as CCC, only 80 patients ( not 160) could be accommodated since the distance was against SOP”.

It further stated that oxygen cylinders installed in the coaches were small in size but Sema added that there was “close coordination between Dimapur medical team and additional CMO Railway Medical Services from time to time and utilising whenever necessary”.

It added that Lumding and Tripura also had Covid coaches but were keeping the facility as reserve  till date, ‘to be used as and when need arises’.
