Dimapur, July 15 (EMN): It was a busy Sunday for the Dimapur Traffic personnel who initiated to repair stretch of road near new Dhansiri Bridge entry to Walford near Lorna’s School in Dimapur.
A stretch of road near new Dhansiri Bridge which connects Walford to Supermarket was in a pathetic condition which has proved a nightmare for people taking that particular route. Drivers struggle to cross through the road because of the poor road condition.
Worried over the traffic congestion as the new Dhansiri Bridge is the only lifeline for commuters travelling to Dimapur town after the closure of old Dhansiri Bridge and Nagarjan Bridge, the Dimapur Traffic police regulating the traffic movement noticed that the road leading to Walford which is an alternative route to ease traffic congestion was not in good condition.
The Dimapur traffic police under the initiative of DCP Traffic took up to repair the stretch with their manpower and finance by levelling and cementing the portion of the slope in order to ease the traffic congestion, said the police personnel to Eastern Mirror on Sunday.
The repairing of road started on Fri. July 13 and the road to Walford near Lorna’s School has been closed and it will remain close for another two to three days, the informed. They have also informed commuters to avoid taking the route for two to three days till the repair work is over.
