Traffic Jam in High School Junction Kohima

Among others, one of the main causes of traffic jam in High School junction in the morning is the vehicular congestion at G. Rio & Bethel Higher Secondary School entry/exit point. The stretch between NH and the said schools has a few narrow points where two vehicles cannot pass each other, so while school duty vehicles come up after dropping students, those entering from the highway have to wait and vice versa. This process involving hundreds of vehicles, including buses, results in a long queue that spills over to the highway and slowly affects traffic flow on both sides, i.e. towards High School junction as well as towards IG stadium. By the time morning school rush hour subsides, office hour commences and the after-effects of the morning jam continue throughout the day.

As such, in the interest of public convenience, it will be very good if Traffic Police and local youth bodies co-ordinate to make vehicles follow “One Way Traffic” between 8:00 am and 9:00 am by entering from the present entry point and exit through Bible College and if it is found to be effective, enforce it in the afternoon as well, between 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm.
