Traffic along Patkai stretch closed for two days

(EM Images)[/caption] Eastern Mirror Desk Dimapur, Oct. 26 (EMN): Incessant rains over the past three days have triggered massive landslides on National Highway-29 at the stretch between Chümoukedima check gate and New Chümoukedima village. According to Dimapur Traffic Police, it will take them at least two or three days to clear the road. Consequently, Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Kevekha Kevin Zehol has informed that there will be total restriction of all movement from Chathe River Bridge (Patkai Bridge) to New Chümoukedima (Pakala Pahar Bridge) for a period of two days, October 27 and the 28th, due to heavy landslides. Alternative route from Dimapur to Kohima/Kohima to Dimapur (for light vehicles only) is available via 7th Mile-new DC office-Shokhuvi-Razaphe-Mhaikam-Pimla-Mhainamtsai-Jhornapani/Medziphema, and vice versa.

Landslides near Tseminyu cleared

Our Correspondent Kohima, Oct. 26 (EMN): Normal traffic on National Highway-02, along the stretch where road construction works are ongoing, was affected on Saturday, owing to continuous downpour for the past few days. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Tseminyu, Nokchasashi told Eastern Mirror that there were landslides in few places along the stretch where construction works are ongoing near Tseminyu town. Machineries have been able to reach the spot and the debris cleared, it was informed. One of the affected areas between Tseminyu and Botsa was expected to be soon, by Saturday evening itself, he said. Asked if there were more landslides along the stretch between Tseminyu and Wokha town, the ADC said that there were possibilities.
