Traditional museum inaugurated in Leshemi village
DIMAPUR — The commissioner and secretary of Rural Development department, Neposo Theluo, inaugurated the traditional museum-cum-conference hall and functional household tap connection in Leshemi village under Phek district on September 21.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, Theluo congratulated the village leaders and the construction committee for the successful completion of the project with good workmanship. He advised the village leaders to elect good and honest leaders to take the village forward in any developmental activities to be taken up by the government, a DIPR report stated.
He also congratulated the Leshemi village for achieving the best-performing village under FHTC project in Phek district. He mentioned that a compilation of all-round development activities taken up by the department would be released and distributed to every village during the Rural Development departmental general conference, which is scheduled to be held on September 25.
Theluo also lauded the villagers for coming up with a museum and advised them to maintain and attract tourists to generate income for the village. He called upon the villagers to collect more materials such as traditional attires and artifacts. Besides, he congratulated the committee for the timely completion of the functional household tap connection to every household in the village project.
He further requested the VDB and VCC to include WATSAN, health and village education committees in the gram panchayat development planning facility team.
The report mentioned that all three projects were funded under the 15th Finance Commission where 40% was basic grant and 60% was for functional drinking water and sanitation.
The programme was chaired by Kupelhi Losou, while the welcome address was delivered by Ngupelo Lasushe, chairman of Leshemi village council and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Wekupe Losou.
A folk tune was presented by Kerimi Lühzokro.
