Dimapur, Feb. 26 (EMN): The call to lift closure of business activities on Sundays in Dimapur continues to gain momentum even as three more organisations on Tuesday urged the NSCN (IM) to review the ban. In a joint statement, the Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the East Dimapur Business Association, stated that they fully endorse the call from other organisations to lift the Sunday closure imposed by the NSCN (IM). “Since the imposition of shop closure on Sunday, the two associations have met the NSCN-UT-1 CAO on two occasions to lift closure on food joints, confectioneries, medicine, groceries, perishable items and travel and tour agencies and apprised him of the difficulty of the business community, travellers and the public. Accordingly, the CAO-UT 1 responded positively to relax medicine, confectionaries, travel agencies and lodging hotels. However, in absence of proper directives, there has been huge confusion and unwanted elements taking undue advantage of Sunday closure and harassing the business community in every opportune time. “Further on other business/trade, the two associations were told by the CAO that that proper directive from the home kilonser (sic) will be taken and intimated to the business community, however, till so far no decision has been intimated to the business community. Therefore, the business community is totally disappointed with the lackadaisical attitude,” the statement read. A separate statement from the Naga Women Hoho Dimapur expressed support to the various appeals made to the NSCN (IM) to lift the closure on Sundays.
